Bank holiday – more traffic!!!

Slow traffic on the way to Truro

Slow traffic is reported on A390 eastbound between the A30 / A3075 / B3277 junction – the Chiverton Cross Roundabout – and the roundabout at the park and ride at Threemilestone.

It is set to be a busy day on the roads across the south west as people may their way home after a very sunny and warm bank holiday weekend in Devon and Cornwall. It is likely that the A30, A38 and the M5 will be particularly congested as thousands take to the roads in time to return to work tomorrow. There have been a number of incidents across the region over the weekend with two people being killed in crashes. The police are warning drivers to take extra care in the sunny conditions. The RAC is warning that the traffic is likely to be very heavy today, particularly this afternoon and into the evening as people try to make the most of what is predicted to be a very sunny Monday. The organisation has predicted that bank holiday Monday itself will see 1.9million cars take to the roads.

Odd how all the road ‘improvements’ do not really sort out congestion on the roads! Not odd really when you factor in a rising population and the evidence that shows that extra road space results in extra traffic!
