It seems there is a cunning ploy to distract opponents of new housing by placing all new big developments where they are hidden away. The revised allocation plan document will presumably make sure that any proposed sites will be located in valleys where those pesky opponents will not be able to spot them! Out of sight out of mind!
Last week, Cornwall Council’s strategic planners approved 800 more houses on fields east of Newquay by 15 votes to 2. Planning officer Stephen Kirby said “you wouldn’t really notice it” as most would be out of sight. So that’s all right then. Chief planning officer Phil Mason felt there was a general acceptance in Newquay of the need for more houses. As usual, the source for this was not forthcoming. (This is the same Phil Mason who brazenly stated that no new houses were ever sold to people from outside Cornwall.)
