Camelford’s population grew by a whopping 30% from 2001 to 2011. The target now is to add another minimum 27% growth by 2030, A packed meeting in October heard about all the ‘compelling’ (see yesterday’s post) benefits of this unsustainable scale of growth – traffic congestion, ‘toxic’ air quality, a doctors’ surgery bursting at the seams as ‘people register with us, a lot from elsewhere, Manchester, Birmingham’. They were told Camelford still ‘needs’ another 110. [PA16/02349/PREAPP and PA16/02350/PREAPP]
The idiocy of the ‘Local Plan’ is revealed in policies which lead to further problems while pretending to solve them. Not that developers are bothered about the environmental and social costs!
