No – we do not need 40,000; 50,000 or more houses built in Cornwall!

Doubtless the serried ranks of planning consultants/developers will assert that ‘we’ need more houses, but as someone once quipped – they would say that wouldn’t they!

Indeed they would more development is great for them if for no-one else.

A quick reiteration

We do not need those extra houses because:

The population projections are fundamentally flawed. They are not accurate and always over-estimate;

The Home choice register numbers do not equate to the number of new houses required. Most of those on the HCR already live in a property;

With an essentially stable population, most new houses are built to accommodate people moving to Cornwall, they are not for local need;

Quite a lot of houses – new and old – end up as second homes/holiday lets, that’s not local need.

So if we want a truly sustainable Cornwall with a sustainable community where housing is for local need, then say NO!
