The publicity for the east-west link road which runs from Redruth to Camborne is full of contradictions. On the one hand it is asserted it will cut congestion yet this is an untenable view as considerable housing and employment is planned for the area which will increase traffic levels. There is reference to increased access to the A30 which will lead to higher levels of commuting into and out of the area. And at the Redruth end of the road there is the Tolgus gateway development which is designed to reduce the capacity on the road which links the EWLR with the A30 at Avers – bizzare! There is also the co-existence of an emphasis on walking and cycling – for local inhabitants while encouraging everyone else to drive to the area – how rational is that?
