Another snippet or two (to misquote from Fagin, You have to have a snippet or two!,from the Hayle retail proposal.
The traffic surveys undertaken in October & November 2013 revealed that the WCSP had a significantly higher rate of traffic attraction, and therefore trip rate, than the trip rates forecast in TRICS for this type of development.
This suggests that the new retail would also generate more trips than expected?
To note, the development will not generate any brand new shopping trips. Future customers are already undertaking their shopping trips to other destinations in Cornwall and many will simply transfer to using the development (primary transferred),
although many of these trips will be new to the local highway network.
Can this really be correct? Will not some people decide to make some extra trips? And lets mention the elephant in the room – with planned population growth and therefore more shoppers then surely there will be more trips? Come on you cannot ignore that!
