With the election campaign continuing in its relentless yet meaningless way we thought it was useful to highlight some of the issues that ought to be but wont be discussed.
In essence we need to work towards a steady state society in both economic and population terms. Thats a pretty big ask, it means challenging the orthodox approach of continuous growth, opposing the neo-liberal consensus that sees an expanding economy and population as ‘good’ things; it means establishing a new sort of society.
We will be looking at what a steady state society would mean and the type of policies required to achieve it. Comments welcome.
