Tesco – an ongoing saga

The news that Tesco is pulling out of various new stores raises some interesting points.

What happens to sites which Tesco has purchased but which will not now be developed?

What is the future of other supermarket developments?

How will the changes in the retail market impact on development in general? For example, will developers still include the seemingly obligatory supermarket in proposals? If not what will developers use to encourage support for development proposals without the spin offs from supermarket developments such as a bit of extra road for example?

What will now happen to all the existing proposals for supermarkets in Cornwall – will they continue?

  1. Tesco’s planned expansion site in St Austell, has now been put on the property market.
It’s been given planning permission, The site is brownfield, has been cleared, ready for their planned extension. The question is what will happen to it now!
