We know, still some time before the General Election in May 2015. But with the political party conference season in full swing we have already seen promises to build more houses. We all know the obsession with house building – the simplistic nostrum that we just need to build more houses. We also know that there will not be a real debate about how many houses we need and why we need more houses.
There wont be much about second homes if anything; no debate about homes used for holiday lets; there wont be anything about the obsession with population growth. There will be calls for building cheaper houses – in both quantity and quality; Labour and the Lib Dems will go on about mansion taxes (does this affect Chris Huhne we wonder?), though the really affluent will not be bothered about that.
We will of course continue to comment on housing issues and hope it does add to people’s awareness of the issues.
