More houses are good for you and they don’t impact on the environment!

Its Our Cornwall have had some interesting blogs on housing development, for example yesterday:

More Wainhomes houses are well on their way at Bodmin. Having got permission for 45 houses in Phase 1, Wainhomes (agents Focus on Design of Bristol) are now applying to build another 235 on open country between Boundary Rd and Dunmere Rd to the north west of the old hospital site. At a consultation meeting on this a planning officer was asked if the planners supported population-led growth. The answer was a blunt ‘yes’.

And on Tuesday:

Although residential development has been refused … between Camborne and Penponds twice before, Merlion Capital Developments of Winchester are pushing on with an application for 104 houses and a care home. Their agent – Savills planning claim that ‘no signifcant environmental impacts are expected.’ Or at least they can’t spot any from their office at Southampton.

So planning officers, are they not there to advise. Surely decisions are for elected officials. And how are they qualified to support population growth. And on what grounds do they believe it to be a good thing.
