Housing target 2014


Next Tuesday 14th January the Full Council will discuss the recommended housing number for the local Plan:

Recommendations to Council:

1. That the draft Cornwall Local Plan be amended and agreed in
accordance with either paragraph (a) or paragraph (b) below:-

(a) The overall housing number be agreed at 47,500 with the 

associated distribution of such housing being as set out in
Appendix 1 to the report to Cabinet dated 27 November 2013.

(b) The overall housing number be agreed at 42,250 with the
associated distribution of such housing being as set out in
Appendix 2 to the report to Cabinet dated 27 November 2013.

According to It’s Our Cornwall the Conservatives on the authority intend to put forward a proposal for 33,000 dwellings.

33,000 is better than the options above, although we would prefer the 29,000 we proposed last year.   That is the maximum required bearing in mind population change and in-migration data.

    All very well, But, unless the Government officially accepts the Cornwall is a special case.
    It’s just more smoke and mirrors. The gov inspectors can just reject it. Developers paradise would continue just as at present.
