Extra houses = extra council tax – err not quite!

Councillor Folkes in his blog ‘A Lanson Boy’, last Friday refers to the Cornwall Council budget and looks at options. He states

But cuts are not the only option. We can also look to increase our income through fees and charges and through higher housing numbers, more renewable energy schemes and selling our services to other organisations. But many of these are controversial issues which need proper debate. There aren’t any easy answers.

‘through higher housing numbers’  Exactly how higher housing numbers would be an option is to say the least – odd.

Ok extra houses mean extra council tax.  Hmm but:

Extra houses mean extra people who need council services!

So the extra council tax pays for the extra services for the extra households.  So no better off than before are we?
