Rumours persist that dodgy deals are in the air at St Austell. Cornwall Council’s planners are being accused of behind the scenes preparations to push through the Coyte Farm ‘development’ just over a mile west of the town. For anyone who’s been hibernating for the last year, this involves transforming 98 acres of farmland into a retail park, with superstore, petrol station, takeaway restaurant and link road, to be followed up by a pub/restaurant, hotel, care home and other assorted ‘improvements’ to the current tedious greenness that blights the area.
